Police launch manhunt for notorious Isiolo ‘ganja’ farmer

Police in Isiolo have intensified the search for a man who was found growing bhang within a rental plot in Kulamawe, in the outskirts of Isiolo town.

Acting on a tip off from members of public, Isiolo County commissioner Herman Shambi led police officers in an operation to uproot the illegal crops growing among kales in a rental plot.

The caretaker only identified as Kathurima jumped off the perimeter wall to escape from the law enforcers.

According to the administrator, the uprooted crops had a street value of more than Ksh. 200,000, adding that detectives will pursue the escapee to ensure that he is arrested and charged.

Shambi said that the government is committed to ensuring that use of drugs and other illegal substances is eradicated.

He warned other bhang growers and dealers in Isiolo that their days were numbered.

The administrator also appealed to Landlords who live far from their property to do thorough background checks on the caretakers they employ to manage their property and even install CCTV Cameras to enable them monitor what goes on during their absence.

He also advised them to employ people with certificates of good conduct since some caretakers carry out criminal activities without knowledge of the owner.
