Sabina Kerubo, the former Deputy OCS at Ugunja Police Station, has been found dead.
Kerubo, a Chief Inspector, was a subject of news headlines in November and December 2019 after The Star newspaper correspondent in Siaya County, Erick Oloo, was found dead in her house in Ugunja Town on November 21.
Oloo, 41, had deep cut injuries in the head.
Kerubo was, consequently, arrested and arraigned for Oloo’s murder.
The matter, however, took a complicated twist after witnesses to Oloo’s death failed to appear in court for subsequent mentions.
Kerubo was, thereafter, transferred to Police Headquarters in Nairobi to attend counselling sessions.
On Tuesday, December 22, police found Kerubo’s body in her single-room house in Komarock, Matungulu Sub-County in Machakos County.
Police said Kerubo’s body appeared “weak and emaciated”.
Authorities claim there were indications that Kerubo had consumed excess alcohol.
Information about her death was filed at KBC Police Station under the OB Number 17/22/12/2020 by one Philip Monta, who introduced himself as Kerubo’s boyfriend.
Matungulu OCPD and his DCI counterpart, thereafter, visited the scene and found Kerubo’s body on a mattress spread on the floor.
“She appeared frail. Next to her body, were empty glasses and jugs of keg alcohol,” said the area OCPD.
The deceased’s mother, Elizabeth Kwamboka, told K24 Digital that Kerubo had refused to stay at the family homestead.
“On different occasions, she would assault me while drunk,” Kwamboka said.
Kerubo has died aged 36.
Her body was taken to a Machakos hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
