A man doing wiring at the trading market was among those killed.

“The car had first hit a boda boda rider, critically injuring him before ricocheting into shops,” witness Boniface Mogaka said.

“It could have been more ugly had it not been stopped by an electricity pole. Nyacheki is often a busy trading centre.”

The passengers in the car were rushed to Nyacheki Level 4 Hospital for treatment before they were later referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for specialised medical attention.

Kisii County Police Commander Francis Kooli said the injured are being attended to.
