President Uhuru Kenyatta has responded to the growing public concern over the government’s handling of the corona virus scare that has become a global crisis.
The head of state issued Executive Order 2 of 2020 where he gave five orders that are expected to help the country .
The first order was with regard to the Mbagathi Hospital which currently hosts the national isolation and treatment facility which President Kenyatta ordered to be completed within 7 days.
Secondly, the President more isolation and treatment centres to be identified in various Level 5 and referral hospitals and prepared before March 15th 2020.
Thirdly, Kenyatta established the National Emergency Response Committee on corona virus which will bring together various government officials in areas treated to management of the corona virus.
President Kenyatta further dissolved the Cabinet’s Ad hoc committee on Health and Inter-ministerial Committee on Government Response to the Corona Virus Outbreak.
The President’s directive is unlikely to resolve the public concern over his government’s handling of the deadly virus.
Kenyans have reacted with anger to a decision made by senior government officials that allowed a plane from China to land at JKIA and its 239 passengers allowed to enter the country with the promise that they would self-quarantine.
