Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is now a centre of dispute.

Students took to social media and writing emails to bloggers protesting the election of their student leader who was rigged in by the administration.

One of the bone of contention is the election of one Mark Thiong’o Mwangi who has failed two units despite the JKUSA (Jomo Kenyatta University Student Association) constitution barring such.

Vice-Chancellor Victoria Ngumi is accused of tribalism and nepotism.

The JKUAT Vice Chancellors daughter and other Kikuyu aspirant have been made go unopposed in the upcoming university elections. They’ve disqualified other viable aspirants from other tribes. Highest level of nepotism and tribalism. – Jeffrey Osano wrote on Twitter.

This was written yesterday by a student.

What is happening in JKUAT is nepotism at it’s best. Next year Victoria Wambui Ngumi will be renewing her term as VC JKUAT. Since she has underperfomed, she is afraid of having a student body she is unable to control.

JKUSA Constitution states that no candidate is allowed to vie when he/she has sat a supplementary exam. Mark Thiong’o who is an aspirant for chairperson with a joint ticket with Grace Joy Ngumi (Prof. Victoria Ngumi’s daughter) has so far had 3 supplementary exams.

Check number 6. These are 2/3 supplementary exams he’s had so far.

What is shocking, the university administration cleared him to contest for the Chairperson’s position. As if it is not enough, all other candidates in that race were disqualified on questionable grounds leaving him and the VC’s daughter unopposed.

It all didn’t stop there, In the academic affairs race, they disqualified one Felix Otieno aka Fao, who is a Luo and fully qualified, to leave Kevin Kamau a kikuyu and the most timid candidate in the race. They are afraid of having an outspoken student leader.

Today in the most cowardice move and the university Knowing the evils they had done, they pinned the list in the notice boards at night and deployed armed police officers at the Dean of Students office. Today, all university security officers were out manning that office.

Out of the 7 executive positions in the student union, 5 went unopposed. Simply shocking! This is the highest level of incompetence and daylight robbery.
