The Public Service Commission (PSC) has already terminated the contracts of two personal assistants attached to Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and could face charges over fraudulent promotions to plum State jobs.
According to PSC, Kizito Temba, Wamalwa Personal Assistant and Joseph Kubende, assistant programme coordinator for Liaison and Advocacy faked there way to their respective positions.
“This is to inform you that the PSC has directed that the contracts of the under listed personal staff who are serving in your office against supernumerary posts be terminated,” PSC secretary Simon Rotich said in a letter to Wamalwa dated June 3.
“Instructed that you exercise disciplinary powers under delegated authority and institute disciplinary proceedings against the under listed officers as outlined in XII of the PSC Act and Part IX of the PSC regulations 2020,”the letter adds.
Kenyan Bulletin is aware that Section 63 of the PSC Act states that the commission’s constitutional function under Article 234 (2) (c) is to promote national values and principles of governance in Article 10 and values and principles of public service in Article 232 (1) and Section 63 of the Act shall include to investigate, on its own initiative or upon a complaint made by any person or group of persons, the violation of any of the values and principles.
Among those likely to face disciplinary action include;
- Evans Kimutai (Human Resource Management officer),
- Daniel Okwiri (Principal HRM officer),
- Reuben Wamukota (Policy and Research officer),
- Catherine Wanjiru (HRM officer)
- Nancy Kiprop (Office administrative assistant).
- Mercyline Wamalwa (Research officer),
- Reuben Thuku (Assistant Secretary)
- Judith Nyadimo (Principal Supply Chain Management officer).
Sources privy to PSC dealing have informed the senior editor of this site that PSC has already referred the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department for further probe.
“Further, instructed that a report on action taken be submitted to the commission in accordance with the existing disciplinary procedures,” Rotich stated.
CS Wamalwa troubles have exposed a greater loophole exploited by corrupt public officials to loot the coffers.
When asked for his feedback, CS Wamalwa declined to comment on the active case under investigation referring us to the PSC chair who is legally allowed to share out more details.
