City hall is now on spot for allowing hawkers selling meat and chicken at City Market without health certificate and approvals from the county.
The hawkers openly call and drag customers to buy their meat at the market raising questions to the health and safety of meat at the market.
Public Health Deputy Director Nairobi City County Wilson Langat however says they are handling the matter and yesterday they had a meeting with all traders at the market and that the matter is being addressed.
”It’s true what is happening at City market is not good for our health but we are solving it,yesterday we had a meeting at Nyayo House before we take any action.” Langat told Ghetto Radio News.
Meanwhile normal business is back at the market after three day scuffle ensued between the shoppers and the hawkers.
Zakham Bhatti a trader at the market who is affected by hawkers operations says they met governor Sonko yesterday and agreed that hawkers would leave but through legal means.
The traders have accused hawkers of operating right infront of their premises yet they do not pay revenue for the stalls.
