Safaricom has announced the winners of its highly anticipated ‘Shine Kenya Shinda Mamilii Kama Bingwa’ promotion.
Thirty lucky Safaricom customers have each won Ksh 1 million weekly as part of the eight-week promotion, with the grand prize winner receiving Ksh 5 million.
Each weekly millionaire has been awarded an extra Ksh 250,000 from the Safaricom Foundation to support community projects of their choice.
Elizabeth Sangale
Among the winners, Elizabeth Sangale, a farmer and mother from Kabongwa, Uasin Gishu County, expressed gratitude for the life-changing opportunity.
For years, Elizabeth struggled to finance her children’s education.
Thanks to the prize money, she can fulfill her daughter’s dream of studying psychology abroad and support her other children in pursuing IT and nursing courses locally.
Elizabeth plans to use the Ksh 250,000 community project fund to provide uniforms for disadvantaged children in her village and invest in initiatives supporting her husband, who is hearing impaired.
Mary Wambui Chege
Mary Wambui Chege, a caregiver from Gachie, Kiambu County, was initially skeptical when she learned of her win but is now excited to pursue her passion for nursing with her newfound financial security.
Mohammed Khalif
Mohammed Khalif, a budding entrepreneur in El Wak, Mandera County, intends to boost his local retail business with his prize money, emphasizing the promotional campaign’s role in empowering local economies.

How to Participate in the Shine Kenya Shinda Mamilii Kama Bingwa promotion
To participate in the promotion, Safaricom customers can earn entries by transacting on M-PESA or purchasing Shine Kenya Bundles.
Every KES 200 transacted on M-PESA and any Shine Kenya bundle purchase of KES 20 or more qualifies customers for the weekly draw.
Transactions eligible for entries include Send Money (P2P), Lipa na M-PESA, and transactions made through the M-PESA App, My Safaricom App, or by dialing *444#, *544#, or *334#.
The promotion also features regional launches across Nairobi, the Greater Western region, Coast/Eastern region, Rift region and Mt. Kenya/North-Eastern region.
Each region will have one millionaire weekly for five weeks, ensuring broad participation and regional engagement.
In addition to cash prizes, participants can win instant M-PESA cash prizes, data, voice, SMS bundles, and content rewards.
