Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has rubbished a directive by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i’ that all bars remain closed for the national census exercise.
She termed the move as “unwarranted, unjustifiable and punitive to business people and to lovers and admirers of booze.”
According to the nominated senator people who earn from the sector will be affected severely.
“They’ll have no cash to pay their employees, suppliers and landlords,’ she said.
The Senator further faulted the CS saying Kenyans can be counted anywhere and at anytime.
On Wednesday, CS Matiang’i ordered all ‘social places especially bars’ to be closed at 5pm so that enumerators find Kenyans at home for the census.
