Increased cases of thugs and rapist are a result of the breeding culture single mothers have imposed on the young generation according to the Kikuyu Council of Elders Secretary-General, Peter Munga.
The Kikuyu Council of Elders chair ranted this during has a morning TV show at Inooro TV. According to Munga, the increased levels of teenage criminal is because of poor upbringing by single mothers.
Reverend Munga the then Secretary-General of the Kikuyu Council of elders said that single mothers have denied their son’s access to a father-figure and have brought up a society that disrespect Women and less bothered about the life of the Men.
“If you look today, all those boys insulting adults on the roads are children of single mothers. They are the one’s carjacking and engaging in all forms of crimes”, Said Rev Munga.
“These children can hurl any form of insults to adults due to lack of role models. They only have their mothers around them and every time they are expressing bitterness. Maybe as a result of painful divorces, early and unwanted pregnancies, single mothers pass bitterness to their children”, Rev Munga explained.
According to the vocal Secretary-General, failure to marry denies boys enough masculinity. It also makes the current breed of men to be weak and unable to withstand challenges.
According to Munga, most depressed children are close to their mothers—most of them who have separated or wiped out the existence of the men that they bore children with.
“It is only in the Kikuyu community where we have children bearing their mothers’ names as surnames. This does not happen in other communities.”
Earlier this month, Nyandarua Inter-Religious Council chairman Bishop Josam Kariuki said culture is important and the elders move should not be opposed so long as they prove to be teaching progressive, not retrogressive cultural practices
“As the Church, we call them for conferences, seminars, and fellowships where we teach and preach to them. If the Kikuyu elders find the need to speak to them, I find no problem.”
The bishop blamed the breakdown of the Kikuyu traditional value system for the increase of single mothers. He said those responsible for mentoring and counselling young women and girls have failed. And equally, the failed generation is paying back in terms of breeding a biased gender-based society.
There is this cooked notion that sexual or emotional abuse is among the leading factors that have kept dozens of women outside their wedlock, but nobody wants to talk about a culture rather a society of women that have been brought up with ‘I don’t need a man’ mentality and Boys that know that their ‘Father’s ain’t shit’.
