Students and Teachers of a Migori School infested by a Rare disease

A rare skin disease has eaten almost the entire students and teachers of a Migori-based secondary school.

Kenyanbulletin was anonymously informed about this disease that has had parents worried about their kids.

Hello Kenyan Bulletin,

I’m a concerned guardian of a student in St Peters Abwao sec school, Migori county ,Suna West subcounty.

Students and teachers of this school have been suffering from a rare skin problem that causes bleaching of the skin.

Students and teachers have become black and having black scales like conditions of the belly ,neck , armpits and private parts, blackening of palms ,and the foot accompanied by pains and itchiness .

Worse about it is …..the students hungers(private parts) are black , itchy ,others have become red .
It is suspected it is the borehole water they use that was sunk afew months ago because ,the problem started showing as soon as they started using tht water .before that ,the students and teachers were using water from a dam (Mukuro) nearby which was alwys safe for them.

The school is situated in an area that has several gold mines ,Masara gold mines …..

The community suspects it might be mercury deposits in the water.

So far so sad ,we are not aware if the water has ever been tested n proven safe for use.

I visited my son there and what I saw broke my heart.i saw a teacher that looked like he had come from a charcoal burning furnace.

Coincidentally ,the school bus just about taking something like 50 or so students to Migori referral hospital for check up.

Please may this reach the ministry of health and government chemists.may they come to the ground and take samples of the water. The problem has been observed since March 2021 afew months after the borehole became operational.

Our students n teachers are suffering.
