Insecurity cases in the country have been on the surge recently with quite a number of cases being reported every day across the country.
On Tuesday 25 May, another ill-fated robbery occurrence has been reported at Gilgil Police Station after a police officer lost over one million Kenya shillings to an armed robber who also escaped with his firearm.
According to a statement recorded at Gilgil police station, a police chief inspector identified as one Benard Nderu was robbed of his gun and cash by an unknown person.
Reports indicate that the officer had just withdrawn Ksh. 1.15 million from the KCB Gilgil branch and left the money in his Toyota double Cabin car which he had parked outside Calvina hotel.
Reports further indicated that while the officer was still in the hotel, he had alarm warnings from his car, on peeping through the hotel window to find out what was going on he saw the car had been broken into using a duplicate key. The robber took away the bag with money and also took the Officer’s firearm.
The thug reportedly fled using A white Mazda car registration number KCZ 815H.
