Drama ensued at Bikeke police station in Trans Nzoia County after irate residents stormed the station demanding the arrest of an officer who was cohabiting with a schoolgirl.
According to the angry residents, the officer, whose name has been withheld, was cohabiting with a Form Three girl from Milele Secondary School in Kiminini since the long Covid-19 holiday.
The officer, who was working in Kiminini, was recently
transferred to the station with the said girl being his frequent visitor.
Residents marched to the police officers’ quarter, a few
meters from the station, and roughed him up forcing the officer to seek refuge
at the station.
“We found him with the girl in the house and he told us
that the girl was over 18 years old and we want to know the truth,” said one of
the angry residents.
The crowd of over two hundred villagers marched to the
station and forced their way into the police station demanding the arrest of
the officer.
Shockingly, the school girl’s mother emerged with an age
assessment form claiming that her daughter is above 18 years.
The irate mob rubbished her statement and accused her of
being compromised by the officer due to her poverty.
“We know the mother has been compromised and she is being used to cover up the whole incident,” one of them said.
“It took me two days to get such a document. How come
they have gotten it so easily? We are not fools and we want justice for the girl,”
another villager said.
Police intervened and disbursed the angry lot who begun threatening to burn down the police station.
“The matter has been taken by relevant authorities and
is being investigated by relevant people “noted an officer who declined to
be quoted because he was not authorized to talk to the media.
