“Uhuru Not Our Son” – Angry Kikuyu Netizens Tell Off Azimio Blogger

A Twitter blogger popular for religiously spreading Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja coalition agenda is struggling to contain heavy backlash after he sent out a provocative message targeting voters from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backyard in Central Kenya.

In a post published on Friday, July 29, Abraham Mutai, a vocal and fierce critic of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, wrongfully accused the region’s residents of apparently allowing Deputy President William Ruto to “insult” and “threaten” President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom he sensationally claimed to be their “son”.

“So central Kenya is quiet while William Ruto stands on top of vehicles INSULTING and THREATENING their son! I can’t believe it,” wrote the volatile Digital Media Consultant, Strategist and Expert.

His remarks were met by vehement opposition from a section of angry netizens who were quick to dismiss the claims as inaccurate and misleading.

The angry followers made it clear that the Jubilee Party leader is neither their son nor are they in any way directly involved in the escalating war of words with his estranged deputy.

Some argued that in the eyes of his community, Uhuru is an outcast who has overseen the grabbing of their land and destroyed their businesses in his greedy quest to consolidate more power and wealth for his family.

“It is Uhuru Vs Ruto, not Kalenjins vs Kikuyus. No matter who wins the elections we have, jobs, businesses and families to get back to after the elections,” freelance journalist Brian Kipkenei retorted.

“Whose son? We donated that man to Luo Nyanza. Tell people from Nyanza to demonstrate on behalf of their adopted son,” another added.

“Nonsense. That’s Ngina’s son, not Central Kenya’s. Learn to know the difference. In fact, William Ruto is Mt Kenya’s son,” Keeru Lenah noted.

“The mess in the economy is equally in Mt. Kenya. A significant number of Mt. Kenya people hate what Uhuru has done and is continuing to do to his deputy. Mt. Kenya people know who is on their side. And it is not Uhuru, Raila or Martha,” wrote James Murathimi.

“There is no community which has suffered under Uhuru than people from the mountain. From their farm products to their land taken, to their leaders punished, to their merchandise burnt,” noted another Kenyan.

“Mt. Kenya can never stand with the son who destroyed their businesses and diverted the Railway line to his business in Nanyuki. The son whose father is answerable for Kikuyu squatters in Rift Valley, Nairobi, and the coast. To Kikuyus, Uhuru is an outcast,” read a different tweet.

Mutai’s controversial statement, which he probably now regrets, came just hours after Deputy President William Ruto told off his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, over his recent attack on the Kenya Kwanza camp.

Addressing a rally in Kapsabet on Friday, the DP went bare knuckles at the head of state, accusing him of meddling in his political affairs when his tenure in office has already come to an end.

DP Ruto called out President Kenyatta for ungratefulness in rallying behind his political rival Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga despite having backed him in the previous polls of 2013 and 2017.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leader claimed Uhuru had promised to deal with him soon, adding that he will not pay attention to Uhuru’s threats and that instead, he requested the president to act as a unifying factor in this election season.

“Wachana na William Ruto. I supported you when you needed a man to support you. If you don’t want to support me, leave me alone. Mimi na wewe tuheshimiane,” Ruto roared to the cheering crowd.
