Unease over KUPPET elections

Kuppet Secretary General Akelo Misori.

The forthcoming Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) elections is marred with claims of extortion.

Contenders complain over what they term as shocking nomination fees.

“It is sad to learn that KUPPET is turning out to be a monster in it’s union elections, which will be held in January 2021. For a while, nomination fees have been in the region of Sh10k – 15k for various elective posts. However, I am shocked that being a member, I need to fork out 50k for the nomination! Ati to weed out jokers… Kwani my monthly subscription is a joke?!”, a contender wondered.

He further says that power has gone into the heads of leaders of KUPPET which is behaving the same way KNUT is.

“It is not lost to us that KUPPET was formed in order to weaken KNUT. Those are signs that power has gotten the heads of KUPPET leadership. Why are KUPPET members punished for democracy in its rank and file? I have better use for the monthly fee deduction.”

For the above reasons, some are planning to start boycotting the Union led by General Akelo Misori.

“Unless KUPPET reverts to its original nomination fees, we will #BoycottKUPPET”.
