Over the weekend, June Ruto, daughter to Deputy President William Ruto was engaged to Dr. Alexander Ezenagu, her longtime Nigerian boyfriend.
In the Kalenjin ceremony called ‘Koito’, the groom’s family are invited into the room for dowry negotiations as well as getting to know each other well.
The posh event was held in DP Ruto’s Karen home.
Well, Kiss FM’s Jalang’o and Kamene spoke about the wedding on The Morning Kiss, asking people to learn from it, not to extort their in-laws as it is not an investment but a celebration.
Jalang’o said
“I want to talk to parents. You need to work hard as a parent whichever way just grind. Push, push, push as a parent so that your daughters ruracio or wedding is one of the few things you’re counting as an investment.
It should not be a place of extortion. Sijui gate imefungwa, sijui kifunguo imepotea. This should be a happy moment not a place where your son in law is stressed whether he will get your daughter or not.”
He went on to refer to DP William Ruto’s daughter’s traditional ceremony.
On the other hand, Jalas blessed his co-host Kamene, praying she finds ‘The one’
