WhatsApp is finally addressing a long-standing frustration for iPhone users: the inability to easily find old posts in Channels without endless scrolling. A new update now introduces in-channel search on iOS, making it far easier to locate specific updates without digging through an entire history of posts.

Until now, WhatsApp Channels have worked like a continuous feed where admin posts stack chronologically with no threading or advanced navigation. While this works for low-activity channels, it quickly becomes frustrating in high-volume ones, where important updates can easily get buried. The only option previously was manual scrolling, sometimes through months of content to find a single post.
With the new update, that changes. iPhone users can now open any WhatsApp Channel, tap the channel name to access the info screen, and use a dedicated search option. From there, typing a keyword instantly surfaces matching posts, allowing users to jump directly to the relevant message instead of scrolling endlessly. The feature also includes arrow navigation to move between results, making it easier to browse multiple matches quickly.
WhatsApp has also introduced a date-jump tool within Channels, allowing users to skip directly to a specific point in history if they remember roughly when something was posted. This is especially useful for users who may not remember exact wording but do recall timing.
The update brings iPhone functionality closer to what Android users have already had since early 2025, highlighting yet another instance where platform parity has taken time to arrive. While WhatsApp has tested similar features on iOS before, some were reportedly delayed or removed during development before finally being reintroduced in this rollout.
For Channel administrators, the feature is equally useful. Combined with WhatsApp’s existing reply tools, admins can now quickly locate older posts and respond to them directly without manually scrolling through their archives. This makes managing active Channels significantly more efficient, especially for large communities or frequently updated pages.
The feature is currently rolling out through WhatsApp version 26.24.72 on the App Store. However, availability is gradual, meaning not all users will see it immediately. Updating to the latest version increases the chances of receiving it as the rollout continues over the coming days.
In short, WhatsApp Channels are becoming far more usable on iPhone, not by adding new content features, but by finally making existing content searchable.
