Which way for small voiced presidential aspirants, Mudavadi, Joho and the likes…

Many governors serving their second terms were quick to announce their 2022 presidential bids just after the 2017 polls. Alfred Mutua, Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya and the rest who did but some of these voices are now going mute. Mombasa Governor is no longer acting ‘restless and loud’ like he used to be.

His kitchen minister Tawfik Balala was impeached and that was a warning shot from the home ground. His ‘soprano threat’ to dissolve assembly was trashed. Not good at all, your backyard needs to be solid and you need to at least act presidential. That should mean the image but party boys just damage it. It is not punk, box or whatever that hair cut is, not rugged jeans and flowered shirts or some pants in California.

His Excellency sunk in the ‘handshake pool’ and that coupled with dictatorship in ODM where you can’t challenge the party leader, his presidential dreams were ‘killed’ before he went to bed. No wonder the coastal people are dreaming of a situation where we would have regional governments, because their leaders are dwarf, they can’t see beyond the coastal boundaries.

And with entry of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, the playing field is shook. Some all time presidential hopefuls who never stand chances like ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi are confused. He doesn’t know whether to stand alone and lose, follow the dynasties or buy time to see if Dp William Ruto will come calling. Some people have been ‘bought’ before and so if people are ‘bought’ he can be bought.

Joho is still young, unless the coastal people form a political party he will have to continue depending on his loyalty to ODM leader Raila Odinga. That means he will have to fold up or cut his dreams and pick nay office in ‘Raila’s administration’ if anything the future will be bright if BBI succeeds in dignifying the office of the opposition. That office is tactically ‘preserved’ for them but they are blind to see.

Mudavadi is looking at 2022 like a distant loser, he doesn’t want to get there like that so he may be forced to sacrifice his ambition and deputize a strong candidate like Ruto. He can even hang around for what Gideon Moi may offer, Gideon and money is the same thing so if boys are bought or made projects. Hon. Moi can afford to do that, he is riding on a multibillion empire, big political name and just inherited the ‘rungu’ that signified his late father’s authority. Daniel Moi was the president of Kenya for 24 years.

The only bold move Mudavadi can pull is going against the anything else will be a guess work with the surety to lose. At some point it looked like President Uhuru Kenyatta was grooming him when he escorted the president to open a new army barracks in Garissa but he doesn’t know how to stay close to the General and Gideon will take that spot.

And if that happens it is imaginable what Odinga will do or how he will feel, now it is all rosy they are laughing at William Ruto. What options will he be left with? He is always broke in every election meaning he won’t be able to beef up his team. He will end up in 2022 with a weak and slim army so as usual he will survive the battle with ‘his one bullet’ and leave without firing and still hope to give it a shot another time. Right now he is looking like number three.

That is a candidate who must improve his negotiation and deal making skills or else he will begin receiving retirement gifts in public.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua can excused for laying low, the last time we had him crying, he was going to court complaining that DP William Ruto squeezed his hands and promised to ‘finished’ him. May be he is ‘finished’.
