Why Echesa is a permanent stain on DP’s image

And why do top politicians just deal with some ‘goon types’? Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa has never made any positive news that can be remembered. He is always starring in controversies from his grades and the ministerial position, bringing in some nude dancers, a selfie ‘depicting’ him with a naked lady and his ‘mujulubeng’ out and now pushing a shoddy arms deal and operating from the office of the deputy president, Dr. William Somoei Arap Ruto.

Everybody knows Echesa is the type that must trip a number of times in a year and life goes on for him. Engaging with such a person at work points out how many people in leadership don’t care about image and respect for the offices they hold. The country’s image is tarnished and it stops with the DP who is now defending himself through twitter, instead of apologizing he is hoping for many ‘likes’ and ‘retweets’.

And the timing is politically bad for him, BBI noise has ‘muffled’ his voice and his rival in the Rift, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has just inherited ‘rungu ya nyao’ from his late father, Daniel Toriotich Arap Moi who was laid to rest five days ago.

Echesa just earned DP a serious dent on his image; it is going street and not presidential, keeping in mind that the court of public opinion has ‘declared’ Dp William Ruto the most corrupt politician in Kenya.

But scheming and canning politician that he is has been his key to survival, he twisted that narrative and convinced masses that the dynasties were not happy with his ‘success’ and rise from nothing to something.

It’s actually another battle he is fighting and ODM leader Raila Odinga came out guns blazing to defend the dynasties that they too rose from nothing only the timing was different Mr Odinga in many occasions has accused DP of looting from the government.

They say DP is too rich he can buy elections, he’s already bought attention. He is in the headlines of every daily, even the unborn know that he means and he wants to be the next president of Kenya. He has been an inspiring manifestation of how one can rise from very humble backgrounds to high positions of power and he does it through hard work and ambition.

He is from the populous Rift Valley; he is chipping Western and Kisii from Odinga and ‘biting and chewing big’ from President Kenyatta’s Mt. Kenya backyard. He is smart, quick and with a sleek tongue but his ‘image’ is wanting.

He is rumoured in every mega scandal, from maize, land and now to Echesa’s Sh40 billion fake arms deal. Guilty or not but he has scored ‘very small’ in terms of respecting the name of the office he sits in. If he is not receiving elders from different tribes and gifting them with payolas at his official residence in Karen, he would be letting his buddies abuse his office.

Although image is little talked about, the man to beat in 2022 must now learn that his PR team is sleeping. They must do something to ‘rescue’ his image and that exercise must be very delicate, it will involve losing friends will rush to Gideon Moi or BBI choir, that is the Odinga’s Orange Party and President Kenyatta’s ‘Kieleweke’ faction of Jubilee Party.

Orange brothers are spreading the ‘gospel’ that Ruto will steal everything from the government and they are succeeding because every major activity the government undertakes has had its narrative twisted to mean that they are aimed at ‘taming’ Ruto.

From the transition into the new currencies and notes and kicking out of Sportpesa gamblers. His opponents are succeeding in punching holes in his image and Gideon gain this. Other than that, it reduces the office of the second in command as a gathering place where hustlers without offices pull up and ‘enjoy’ clients.
