Good morning Editor,
I am writing on behalf of the counseling psychologists of the country.
This is the time the service of these practitioners is very essential. The confusing information going round about covid-19 has made many go into depression, as we keep receiving mainstream updates by the Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe, the message impact differently on the people that should be addressed.
On the list of the services they are hiring in big numbers they have not considered the mental health fraternity that is very important.
Please notify CS KAGWE that the counselors are willing to volunteer interms of online/telephone counseling to the people of Kenya.
“We are willing to volunteer in counseling Kenyans who are now weakening their immunity with panic and worries”, said one of the authorities in counseling in Kenya who told us to keep her name hidden for now.
Kenyanbulletin.com believes psychologists can play a bigger role in the war against coronavirus in Kenya.
Since the first case was diagnosed in Kenya, there have been 216 cases.
The recoveries stands at 41 while deaths at 9 people.
Those tested are less than 20,000.
The government through the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) announced that they can now test 1000 people per day after acquiring state-of-the-art lab equipments.
The Ministry of Health says that a total of 2,331 contacts have been monitored; 1,729 have been discharged; 602 contacts are being followed at the moment.
