#2bongeForum: Kenyans On Twitter Praise New Free-speech Platform

In April a new forum that promised to offer Kenyans a free speech platform appeared online.

That time it had only less than 20 users. Currently the forum has over 1200 users with over 5000 conversations.

‘It has really grown’, said one user. The forum gained over 500 users in a month after its launch, according to a blog post.

The 2bonge Forum, whose motto is ‘Sema Yote’ or ‘speak freely’ came into prominence after the Twitter purger where a couple of big and influential accounts were suspended.

2bonge has the following categories: Politics, News, Book club, Religion, sex and relationships and sports among others,

‘Users that are active and reach 1000 points, should notify the admin so as to get a verification badge’, says a post by the admin of the site.

Kenyans on Twitter starting this morning run a hashtag in praise of the forum as an alternative to news dissemination and conversations even going into the 2022 elections.

In the age of censorship, forums like 2bonge.net will come in handy to continue the conversation.
