A man has been charged in court for allegedly taking and sharing sexual videos and nude photos of his ex lover on social media.
Omar Seif appeared before senior resident magistrate Martin Rabera on Monday, denied all the charges and was released on Sh100,000 bond.
He told the court that he suffered from hernia and was supposed to be operated on at Mpeketoni, Lamu county. Though he appeared weak, Seif to told the courts to continue as he proceeded to take the plea.
Seif however complained that he was under medication with scheduled injections every morning and evening but had missed a session to take plea.
Sisters for Justice lobby group executive director Naila Abdhallah complained that cases of cyber bullying have become rampant, especially towards women and sometimes leading to victims committing suicide.
Naila said that many cases go unreported because the victims are afraid of the incident going viral or being exposed to close friends and family.
She added that five cases have been reported at their offices and such cases mostly affect women and especially university students and urged women to be extremely careful in relationships.
