Somalia is protesting what it has terming a violation of its airspace by Kenya after an aircraft flew direct from Nairobi to Kismayu instead of first landing in the capital Mogadishu.
Somalia Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has filed the complaint against Kenya to the UN agency International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO).
Last Saturday, a Kenyan-registered Fokker 50 plane, 5Y-JXJ, carrying Somali politicians landed in Kismayu, the capital of Jubbaland state without making a stop over in Mogadishu as required.
Somalia directed that all civilian aircraft to first stop in the capital Mogadishu before proceeding to Kismayu.
The September directive followed the re-election of Jubaland president Ahmed Madobe, whose victory was rejected by Mogadishu and endorsed by Nairobi.
