Ruto’s mouth piece and Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has claimed that the handshake will protect senior officials linked to the Akasha brothers drug network.
US-based law scholer Makau Mutua ignited the fire after he wondered when the officials who were allegedly bribed by the Akashas for protection will be extradited to the United States to face criminal charges.
“The Akashas identified to US authorities Kenyan judges, police officers, prosecutors, and politicians they bribed before conviction for drug running in New York. Will those bribed be publicly identified and extradited for trial in the US?” Mutua tweeted on Tuesday. A tweet he has since deleted.
In his response, Murkomen, the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator said “Handshake will protect them.”
Former Mukurue-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando reacted to the tweet claiming that the Senator was accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner ODM leader Raila Odinga of being involved in the narcotics trade through the protection of wanted criminals.
Oh, my! Most daring, or truth Sayer? Jubilee's Senate Majority Leader has accused President Uhuru KENYATTA @RailaOdinga of abetting SERIOUS crimes – protecting dangerous criminals. That narcotics barons have their mercy. This is SERIOUS. What say @StateHouseKenya @TheODMparty? https://t.co/XS8xss69It

High Court Advocate Oduol Aluoch also took issue with Murkomen’s tweet claiming it was a direct attack on Uhuru, the party leader of Jubilee.
I thought handshake was an initiation by both the president and Raila.Too mock the same is tantamount to mocking the president your party leader and in a great extent aiming at shaming, ridiculing and disrespecting your leader.
