Zamara Pension firm, formely Alexander forbes, has been sued over Sh 125 Million unpaid dues to contractors in their stalled and collapsed multi-storey building project in Westlands.
Zamara hired a consortium of firms dubbed Magharibi to put up the building in 2015 but three years later informed the contractors that it was pulling the plug on the project.
The architects AIA Architects and consultants Apex Systems Consulting have now filed claims in court for Sh125 million after Zamara failed to pay for works already done.
In their lawsuit, AIA Architects says that it had completed 75 percent of the works and is claiming Sh76.6 million, while Apex Systems Consulting holds that it is owed Sh49.1 million for its services.
The cash-strapped Zamara intended to have its offices at the Westlands complex, while renting out some units. In the Court papers at our news desk, Zamara backed out of the multimillion-shilling project after consulting their so called ‘industry experts’.
In 2017, Former workers of Rift Valley Railways (RVR) stormed offices of Zamara Actuaries demanding to be paid their outstanding dues. They claimed that through their employer RVR they have been saving their pension proceeds to Zamara but they have since not been allowed to access their funds
