Corrupt Taita Taveta County officials that have been exposed for looting and unexplained wealth have decided to use the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to intimidate the whistleblowers.
Mr Edward Mwakisima, Bigvai Mwailemi, Wilfred Mwalimo, Mathias Madeda and Mathew Njoroge rushed to court to seek injunction against blogger Mwashere Shuma.
The court ordered the blogger to pull down all defamatory articles from several platforms, including his Kwaela News Network website.
“The plaintiff is granted leave to effect service of court summons or any other process through the minister for the time being responsible for Foreign Affairs and with a special request for the further transmission through the diplomatic channel through the Kenyan embassy in Austria,” the order said.
But the order doesn’t stop the serious questions raised by the allegations that some county officials especially how Edward Mwakisima had acquired money to build a Sh20 million mansion yet his salary is below Sh50,000 and he doesn’t have a mortgage.
In just a year, and with only a salary of Sh28k per month, the guy rose from just another struggling Kenyan with no past business history to a formidable and affluent tycoon in the region.

Even as the court-ordered Voi DCI police station commander (OCS) to investigate pseudo-accounts that have been sharing and circulating defamatory posts against the petitioners on social media, it still remains that some of the law the police are flaunting in the arrest of the blogger are unonstitutional.
The case will be heard on November 16.
