Kenya has confirmed 497 more COVID-19 cases raising the number on infections recorded in the country so far to 10,791.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said the new cases were confirmed following testing of 4,922 samples over the last 24 hours.
At the same time, five more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease, pushing the number of fatalities recorded in the country to 202.
Seventy-one more people have also recovered from the virus bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,017.
Of the 497 new cases, 480 are Kenyans and 17 foreigners and they are all aged between 2-81 years.
The cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (292) followed by Kiambu (62), Kajiado (51), Machakos (30), Mombasa (28), Busia (10), Uasin Gishu (8), Nakuru (5) and Makueni (3).
Narok, Nyeri and Meru have two cases each while Kakamega, Kericho, Kilifi, Laikipia and Nandi Counties have one case each
