The Directorate of criminal investigations(DCI) has reacted to a graphic video of a suspected thieft subjected to mob Justice.
In a video that DCI has launched probe into, a suspected thief is being beaten and his skin spotted with a net set on fire.
but uncalled for and an affront to the victim’s fundamental rights and freedoms. In this regard, the DCI is demanding that the suspect presents himself to the nearest Police Station within 24 hours, failure to which he will be declared a dangerous and wanted criminal.

“No mercy. This thief will end your lifetime dreams and leave your children orphaned over your handbag/ wallet with afew coins, or just your phone. Maybe, if this is done often on confirmed thieves, it’ll be a lesson to potential thieves. If you’ve ever met them, utawajua,” a Kenyan on twitter posted.
Consequently, a special team drawn from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, Special Service Unit and the Operations branch has been assembled to help in the expeditious arrest of the suspect.

This comes at a time that soo many people are s struggling to put food on the table.
Cessation of movement in zoned areas has also added salt to an already injured economy that is pushing hundreds to crime.
Last week, a 25 year old thief was burnt to death in Embakasi East, Tassia after he was nabbed robbing resident’s clothes and shoes in an apartment.
A suspected cattle thief was also set ablaze in Kakamega by angry village whereas another one was stoned to death in Kitale.
