Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are investigating an incident where six suspects including two foreigners were arrested and hundreds of mobile phones recovered in Nairobi.
DCI said the two suspects had been arrested in connection to an increase in burglary cases reported at Karuri area of Kiambu County.
The two foreigners identified as Macheme Rodgers Julius and Ukwale Ben Sirira were arrested on Wednesday morning by a combined team of DCI detectives and officers based at Kihara Police post.
“Upon interrogation of the two suspects, the detectives proceeded to 1st Avenue in Eastleigh where they raided Diligent Phone repair shop,” the DCI said on Twitter.
The raid led to arrest of four more suspects namely Peter Githinji, James Kahiga, Martin Mburu and James Kahiga who are being processed for arraignment.”
The arrest of the six comes amid rising cases of electronic theft especially in Nairobi’s CBD where stolen mobile phone and laptops is a booming business.

Elsewhere five robbery with violence suspects purporting to be PSV operators were last night arrested within Nairobi by officers based at Buruburu. Acting on intelligence leads, the five individuals namely Samuel Maina Wanyoike, Joseph Wainana Gitau, Felix Otieno, Dennis Omondi Otieno and Collins Oduor were nabbed aboard M/V Reg. No. KBK 624 F. The said vehicle was captured on CCTV footage as it was being pursued by a group of motorcycle riders after the occupants had allegedly lured and violently robbed a man, who later sought the riders’ assistance.
