Devolutions CS Eugene Wamalwa summoned by DCI over corruption related cases

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Monday.

DCI George Kinoti confirmed that Mr Wamalwa had been asked to appear at the offices as the probe in the Ksh38 billion Itare dam continues.

Former Treasury CS Henry Rotich and former Water Principal Secretary Joseph Irungu have also been summoned.

According to DCI Kinoti, after the investigation by sleuths, the findings will be forwarded to DPP Noordin Haji for further action.

Reports by the Daily Nation have also intimated that officials from the National Treasury, Ministry of Water and banks could have been involved in the scandal.

Former directors of the Rift Valley Water Service Board (RWSB) are among individuals summoned by anti-graft detectives in the Itare Dam projects.

Narok politician Lydia Maskonde, Christine Ndoigo, Chesaina Bartonjo, Julius Lamaoni, Nemuel Machuki, Ewoi Lochom, Samuel Kaaleng, Engineer Kyengo, Barack Amolo and Yatich David.

“The DCI is currently investigating allegations into the misappropriation of public funds in the construction of the Itare Dam. We have summoned the individuals to record statements on December 16,” a statement from the DCI read.

“The following listed suspects who are connected with the ongoing investigations are hereby compelled to report to the DCI Headquarters Serious Crime Block B on Monday, December 16, 2019, without fail,” the statement added.
