State lawyers in the Humphrey Kariuki tax evasion case want three more weeks to enable them to supply witness statements and other relevant documents.
Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Vincent Monda told the court that the documents sought are voluminous. They include 10 boxes of invoices.
The Prosecution noted that they had supplied some statements to the defense team but there are more pending.
Defense lawyers Kioko Kilukumi and Cecil Miler confirmed that they had been supplied with 27 witness statements and 23 exhibits on Wednesday.
They, however, urged the court to direct the Prosecution to supply all other documents by September 20 instead of 26th as had been requested.
Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku ruled that the prosecution comply and the two files be mentioned on September 26.
Mutuku was holding brief for Trial Magistrate Francis Andayi who has been presiding over the case.
The court further directed that Prosecution ensures documents are served to the defense before September 20. They are also to have the inventory duly signed by the defense team on or before September 26.
