Embattled Standard Group Editor in Chief Ochieng Rapuro has taken leave and fled from pressure as he faces a barrage of questions on how he has been mismanaging the Mombasa Road based newsroom.
It has now emerged that Rapuro requested for a leave to cool off after his employer turned tables on him and commenced an internal inquiry about his rogue nature.
In a bid to save face, SG Human Resource department has started an inquiry into his sexual harassment claim after this website reported that he had accused City Editor Roselyne Obala of carrying her legs to show them off in Mombasa instead of working. The remark was made in an open forum attended by all editors.
A source from the HR department told us that already Obala and other staff members have been sent an email to explain the incident.
It’s not clear if HR will recommend for his sacking or its just another public relations exercise to save the image of a man that many have described as a sadist and rogue media manager.
Insiders also indicate that two more female staff members (Quinter Mbori and Najma Ishmael) may make a formal complaint following a sexist remark he made recently while killing a KTN show featuring women achievers. “KTN is not a place where slayqueens come to display themselves,” Rapuro said as he banned the show that had aired about three episodes.
It’s also understood that Rapuro had engaged services of hackers and bloggers seeking to establish the ownership of this blog and those responsible for publishing the stories about him.
“He has vowed to establish who are these people determined to bring him down,” one of those he sought services from exclaimed.
The staffs are determined to expose him however as he has in the past boasted of how he had fired over 9 journalists in this year alone adding that before elections, he wants the number to hit past 30.
