Labour cabinet secretary Simon Chelugui is a wanted man, word has it that Baringo Senator and KANU chairman Gideon Moi’s who is a vocal political rival against the man is pushing for his exit out of Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
The CS who was also in the race for the Baringo senatorial elections during the last general elections is a close friend of the embattled deputy president William Ruto. Chelugui has been a vocal about Moi’s use of money to defeat him.
In 2017, Dp Ruto publicly endorsed the former Director of the Betting Control and Licensing Board saying that Senator Moi had to be ‘tamed’ and the only person to face him was Chelugui.
Chances that Chelugui will survive the upcoming cabinet reshuffle are slim with the deep state already trying to decide who between former Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Kiprono Kittony and former cabinet minister Isaac Ruto, will succeed him.
Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney, Foreign Affairs chief administrative secretary Ababu Namwamba who are also in DP Ruto’s camp are also set to be shown the door.
Ababu’s loyalty to Dp Ruto has cost him as he recently hosted the deputy president in Budalangi, he is expected to hand over to his political rival, former cabinet secretary Paul Otuoma.
