Chief Administrative Secretary Winnie Guchu directed all public weddings will now be limited to 15 people.
She also said that similar ceremonies at the Office of the Attorney General will have four people.
Guchu said all marriage services will only be available online until further notice advising all couples planning to get married to register on the eCitizen portal.
“There will be no more manual services at the registrar of marriage at Sheria House as all services will be available online,” she said.
The government temporarily suspended the process of issuing marriage certificates to partners intending to formalise their engagement on May 20 over coronavirus scare.
This was after hundreds of couples thronged the Sheria House in Nairobi for the services.
The government resumed the process on June 4, once proper guidelines on preventing possible spread of the virus among clients were put in place.
“When we resumed, only 700 couples were willing to postpone their weddings however we were left with a bulk of 1,841 couples. We are hoping that more people will postpone their weddings so we can manage the numbers,” she added.
