Govt Refutes Claims of CSs Inter County Tours Ban

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman has dismissed earlier reports by sources inside the govt that cabinet secretaries have been barred from touring the country as part of efforts to curb spread of the coronavirus disease.

Addressing the press Wednesday in Nairobi, the CAS said there is no such thing as a cabinet lock-down adding that the government and functioning of government is an essential service.

However, the CAS said even without restriction, it does not give cabinet secretaries any free license to go out there and do things that are contrary to the measures the ministry has put in place saying it is the duty of leaders to lead by example.

Sources had said President Uhuru Kenyatta has barred all Cabinet secretaries from touring the 47 counties as part of efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease after three of his cabinet secretaries tested positive of coronavirus and are now in self-isolation.

“The president ordered that the trips be stopped for 14 days as part of efforts to tame the spread of the disease, which is alarming for now,” an official who had sought anonymity had said.
