The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has Tuesday evening revealed that they have received new forensic testing gadgets from Sumuri Forensics, a firm based out of Delaware, USA that provides IT solution in software and hardware for forensic investigators.
“Director of DCI has this afternoon received the Talino Forensics Workstation donated by Sumuri, a U.S based IT corporation that specializes in providing digital forensic solutions. The crime analysis gadget will be a game changer in the manner we investigate and analyze crimes specifically; Financial & Economic Crimes, Terrorism, Online exploitation of Children, Trafficking, Malware analysis and reverse engineering among others”, DCI wrote on their social media pages.
Last year, Sumuri held a competition through their Sumuri Gives Bakc Campaign to gift a law enforcement agency their latest Talino forensic Workstation and an FTK software license.
The competitors were Elkton Police Department (USA), Henry County Police Department (USA), Washington Police Department (USA) Philadelphia Police Department (USA) and DCI in Kenya.
In the end, Henry County Police Department and DCI won after 700,000 votes were cast.
Today, the DCI also thanked Kenyans for ‘their overwhelmingly voting’ and the U.S government through Sumuri Forensics for the gift
The police department that has come under sharp focus recently over banged investigations that fail to make the curt in court further boasted that, ‘with the ever changing dynamics in crime coupled by technological advancement due to globalization, this tool will go a long way in ensuring that the evidence we collect is processed and analyzed using high end technology’.
