Former Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero has dismissed Raila Odinga’s demands as unrealistic and stale, saying that he cannot occupy the State House five months after the presidential election winner was announced.
Kidero, who spoke on a local Tv station, threw salvos at Azimio leader, who is desperately piling pressure on President William Ruto to accept defeat in the 2022 elections and vacate the State House.
The opposition leader asked President Ruto to accept that he did not win the August 2022 presidential elections, even as he faulted the Head of State for the high taxation and cost of living in the country.
“Accept that you were defeated in the election, leave State House for Baba to get in. We are speaking the truth, we do not want war, and we do not want threats. We have our rights as Kenyans, and a hawk cannot snatch them, Kenyans deserve a leader that they elected,” Odinga said.
The Azimio Coalition calls on Kenyans to reject punitive taxes introduced by the Ruto,s administration, saying Parliament must approve them before they are imposed.
The opposition outfit also claimed that the proposed privatisation of public assets is meant to benefit the Head of State and his corrupt cronies in government.
Odinga also reacted to a move by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate rigging claims in the 2022 polls arguing that the truth can only be revealed if Azimio is allowed to scrutinise the Independence Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers.
“I have seen DCI (Mohamed Amin) saying he wants to investigate. DCI, you are an employee of Ruto, you cannot conduct investigations,” he stated.
