Laikipia DG under fire for preaching BBI to the wrong crowd

Laikipia Deputy Governor John Mwaniki has come under scathing attacks for blindly supporting civil servants to collect signatures for Building Bridges Initiative report (BBI) where the document is not welcomed.

The hyped Mwaniki found himself on the wrong side of the political divide in Laikipia where residents and BBI critics accused him of being drunk with partial power.

But the defiant politician did not shy to mention that even money hungry clerics are pocketing big and campaigning for signature collection.

Mwaniki did not consider the fact that Catholics bishops like the Tangatanga faction of Jubilee led by DP William Ruto have strongly opposed the document.

Many church leaders are getting kickbacks from the process and Mwaniki was categorical that no monopoly should be involved in the collection process. It should be free for all.

He added that the BBI process is not a political party debate but a government sponsored project to change the law.

He further rapped off the former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga who has teamed up with blogger Boniface Mwangi and ex-minister Martha Karua to oppose the BBI report for proposing bloated executive and parliaments.

BBI report wants to increase the wage bill by expanding the parliament to a house of 650 non effective representatives.

Mutunga and his team have termed the BBI amendments as illegal and false representation of the people’s wish. It is not what Kenyans told Senator Yusuf Haji task force.
