LSK to pursue justice for raped minor in Migori

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) will offer free legal services to a twelve girl from Migori who was allegedly raped and locked up.
The minor accused her father, a police officer who also runs a pub in Nyabonse shopping centre for luring her into the bedroom and sexually abusing her early in November.
The girl lives elsewhere with her grandmother but had gone to school fees from her father when the incident occurred.
She was locked up in a cell with adults at the Isbania Police Station for six days as the officers at the station tried to conceal evidence to protect their rogue colleague.
LSK’s Chief executive Mercy Wambua said that they are collaborating with relevant agencies to a sign a lawyer on the case.
Mercy said that her society strongly condemns the unfortunate incident. She also urged the urgencies to speedily unravel the circumstances around the incident and bring the culprit to book.
She reiterated that it’s very unfortunate that such crude incidents are still happening today.
