As part of its 15-year celebration, the M-Pesa Foundation will put up a Ksh 52 million maternity block at Tingare Health Centre in Siaya County.

This move supports better care for mothers and infants.

The building will contain a 14-bed post-natal area, a labour space with 6 beds, and a 3-bed room for births.

To improve early life care, a 9-bed newborn wing and a 4-bed Kangaroo room will be included.

A pharmacy, check-up room, nursing desk, and reception area will help staff attend to patients smoothly.

“This project speaks to what we stand for — improving health, learning, and business opportunities. Once finished, the site will help mothers and babies get the care they need. It also helps our nurses and doctors work better,” said Dr. Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom PLC.

Last year, the Foundation broke ground on a similar unit at Nyangu Dispensary.

Earlier this year, a health outreach treated over 3,000 people in the area.

So far, Safaricom’s support in Siaya has reached over 200,000 residents, with a total spend of Ksh 198 million across clinics, schools, and local projects.
