Mudavadi pockets Ottichilo as KK takes over ‘Mulembe Nation’

Mudavadi pockets Ottichilo as KK takes over ‘Mulembe Nation’

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Vihiga governor Wilbur Ottichilo have resolved their feud and agreed to work together as the second term governor vowed back Mudavadi’s presidency in future.

Mudavadi has eyes on the ODM governor for a while and even wanted him to run on ANC ticket but the move was disrupted by former Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi who lost to Otichillo.

The PCS who is consolidating his western power base has sidelined Agoi and other irrelevant political brokers who flocked around him in 2017 and 2022.

The move to follow Mudavadi is part of Ottichilo’s wider scheme to ditch ODM and join Kenya Kwanza Alliance which is expected to retain power in 2027.

Mudavadi who until is appointment as PCS was the ANC party leader, is a high ranking member of the ruling alliance who is vied as the region’s political kingpin.

ANC party SG Simon Gikuru announced that the ANC council bureau appointed Lamu governor Issa Timamy to take over H.E Mudavadi’s position.

The former VP was among the cabinet secretaries who were party bosses but relinquished their positions before being vetted by the committee on appointments chaired by National Assembly Speaker, Hon. Moses Wetang’ula.

Mudavadi and Ottichilo met at the Musalia Mudavadi Centre in Nairobi where they had broad discussions on how the Vihiga governor and his deputy, Wilberforce Kitiezo, can contribute in uniting the Western Kenya region.

Many leaders from the ‘Mulembe Nation’ who voted with the opposition leader Raila Odinga in the last general elections are trooping to Kenya Kwanza for a share of the national cake.

Ottichilo is the latest Raila man to move to Kenya Kwanza after Kakamega Governor Fernandez Barasa met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, ahead of the head of state’s tour of Western Kenya.

The president is expected to tour Kakamega on Thursday and  attend the 18th graduation ceremony at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on Friday before heading to Vihiga County for a meeting with Governor Ottichilo.

Governor Barasa and his Vihiga counterpart have pledged to work closely with President Ruto and Kenya Kwanza administration to push the development agenda of their counties.
