Days after FBI spoke revealing the reason for their reluctance in the full involvement in the his case, details have emerged why the Somali-American businessman Bashir Mohamed wired billions of money to Somalia.
Speaking on the same, Leonard Makokha the operations Manager at Mohamed’s company Infinity development revealed reasons for the funds transfer as of legal activities months after they were done.
According to Makokha, the funds were to fund a number of government and private projects in the neighboring Somalia after Bashir reportedly won a 2.53 billion tender with the Somali government.
He detailed that, Ksh1.8 billion was towards the construction of a prison in Somalia, under the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
Makokha added that, one phase of the project, construction of offices, and renovation of a children’s village were already completed.
He further revealed that businessman was to construct the Mogadishu ministry of health headquarters, and also renovate the Presidential Palace Villa Somalia.
There was yet another second tender awarded to the businessman to construct cheap and affordable houses in Nairobi to the tune of 729 Million Shillings.
“He delivered quality projects on time and without asking for extra pay. I can say that we were close as we spent a lot of time together. He never told me of any threats on his life.
“At the same time, I don’t think the multi-million-shilling tender deals the company won could have directly led to his murder,” Makokha defended Bashir and distanced his tenders from his death.
