Deputy President William Ruto was a no show as President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga received the revised version of the BBI report at Kisii state lodge on Wednesday.
Ruto who was with the two leaders during the Mashujaa Day celebrations yesterday but later travelled to his home county, Uasin Gishu, to attend the burial of Huruma MCA Peter Chomba.
The former ward rep died from Covid-19 related complications.
The DP in his address during the celebration called on handshake partners to bring everyone on board to ensure the country realizes the much-needed unity.
Ruto insisted that only dialogue can accommodate divergent views in the Building Bridges process.
“The Former Prime Minister has talked about reggae. That is fine. But I guess we will have a robust national conversation that will bring everybody on board,” DP Ruto said.
The DP is a fierce critic of the initiative, terming it an agenda aimed at creating positions for a few people at the expense of the poor Kenyans.
With his team ‘Tangatanga’ championing the ‘Hustler narrative’ the defiant DP has insisted that it is time the country focussed on creating employment for the poor youth other than creating new positions for a few.
The version of BBI released last November proposes the creation of a Prime Minister position with two deputies.
Raila also wants the creation of eight regional governments. A scheme that pundits say is aimed at queling disruptions in his camps and competitions, majorly from governors who are serving their second terms and may aim for higher positions.
While Ruto was in Uasin Gishu, Railed hailed the report who contens and breakdown is concealed as the solution to countries electoral injustice.
The former Prime Minister said they will ensure they get the support of at least 24 counties in one week.
