A Nairobi woman who recently went viral after tattooing President William Ruto is face on her body is recovering in the hospital after unknown attackers allegedly doused her with a harmful substance and set part of her body on fire.
The woman, identified in local reports as Rachel Wandeto, gained attention online after photos of her tattoo circulated widely on social media. Reports also claimed she tattooed the words “Two Terms” on her body in support of President Ruto.
According to reports, the attack happened in the Mwiki area of Kasarani, Nairobi. Witnesses said three masked men confronted her and demanded that she share “what Ruto had given her.” When she told them she had nothing, the attackers allegedly poured acid on her and set her hair ablaze before fleeing the scene.
Good Samaritans rushed her to the hospital, where doctors continue to treat her injuries. Photos shared online showed her receiving treatment as Kenyans expressed shock and sympathy over the incident.
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many Kenyans condemning the attack and calling for investigations and justice for the victim.
Before the attack, Rachel had already faced public criticism and personal struggles after her tattoo went viral. Some reports claimed her husband left her following the incident, while social media users remained divided over her decision to tattoo President Ruto’s image.
The latest incident has renewed conversations around political intolerance, online bullying, and violence against women.
Police have not yet announced any arrests as investigations continue.
