In an effort to increase online safety and combat harmful content, TikTok has banned over 108,000 local accounts and removed over 820,000 videos from Kenya.
According to TikTok’s latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, the company removed 820,552 videos posted by Kenyan users between October and December 2025. TikTok said most of the content violated rules on hate speech, misinformation, harassment, graphic violence, dangerous behaviour and explicit material.
The report showed that TikTok’s automated moderation systems detected and removed 99.9% of the videos before users reported them. The company also removed 98.4% of the flagged content within 24 hours after upload.
TikTok further revealed that it banned 108,752 Kenyan accounts during the same period. Among them, 93,704 accounts belonged to users suspected to be under the age of 13, which violates the platform’s minimum age policy.
The crackdown comes as concerns continue to grow globally over online safety, cyberbullying, and the spread of false information on social media platforms.
In Kenya, authorities and digital rights groups have repeatedly raised concerns about harmful online content, especially during periods of political tension and national protests.
At the beginning of the year, Kenya’s Communications Authority warned social media companies to strengthen content moderation and protect young users from harmful material online.

Worldwide, TikTok removed 175.3 million videos in the fourth quarter of 2025, representing about 0.5% of all uploads on the platform. The company said automated technology helped detect more than 152 million of those videos.
TikTok noted that it continues investing in artificial intelligence, safety teams, and stronger moderation tools to reduce the spread of harmful content while improving user experience across different countries.
