Turkana governor Governor Josphat Nanok is still thirsty for another political seat when his term expires in 2022.
Sycophants around the Ruto allied politician revealed that Nanok has plans to run for the senate seat but that will depend on circumstances around BBI. He might even go for a parliamentary seat.
Only broke politicians make such desperate moves. Going for a senate will mean that he is not sure if his candidate DP William Ruto will sail through in 2022 to offer him a cabinet job or a chairman of some cattle dip.
The current senator is Malachy Imana has not declare his interest in the governor’s seat like many senators are expected to do in their respective counties.
Nanok vowed not to retire from politics although he did not declare the seat he would be vying for in 2022.
“I want to leave the office of governor on a high note having done well for my people so that they can decide which other seat fits me. I will not retire.
It is the people to decide. If they feel I have done well, they will decide to give me another seat,” he said.
Pundits feel the parliamentary is a small one for a man who has been a county boss for two terms hence senatorship. That is where retirees flock and fatten up.
And in case BBI document is adopted, the governor might as well run for a parliamentary seat for ‘President Ruto’ to appoint him a minister.
Nanok has forgotten that the law dictates that on retires after two terms and instead blamed those calling on him to ‘retire’ that he will still seek another elective position.
The Tangatanga affiliate also warned underperforming officers in his government who had ganged up with his opponents to frustrate his development agenda to be wary of a looming sack.
“Accountability among government officers and especially those I have employed is important. I will not spare any officer who works with my opponents. One of the MPs sacked his secretary because of working with his perceived opponents yet he is telling me not to fire my officers who are opposing my agenda,” Nanok said.
The defiant ODM Governor fired at Loima MP Jeremiah Lomurukai who has declared his quest to succeed him. Lomorukai has over the time accused Nanok of intimidating civil servants.
He was recently bypassed by the Petroleum and Mining CS John Munyes during a recent tour by the Water CS Sicily Kariuki.
Munyes and Nanok have been beefing for ages. He also accused the governor of opposing the support the BBI and failing to provide food to the needy families during the Covid-19 pandemic.
