Nairobi senator Johnson Arthur Sakaja has trashed the letter by the Commission for University Education (CUE) which revoked his Team University degree on Wednesday morning.
Sakaja accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and the deep state of being behind the desperate moves to bar him from vying for Nairobi gubernatorial seat where he stands a chance to floor Jubilee candidate Polycarp Igathe who enjoys the president’s backing.
I will be on the Ballot on 9th Aug 2022. We will not be cowed by the threats, coercion and intimidation by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the State. The purported revocation by CUE is null and void for the reasons below:- pic.twitter.com/zHtab5VtnA

The Nairobi senator who was cleared to vie for the gubernatorial seat on June 7 2022 has maintained that he meets the required academic qualifications and must be on the ballot on August 9.
Sakaja was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) before petitions were filed Jubilee Party sympathizers to question his eligibility.
Nairobi race has been marred by drama aimed having Igathe, a cooperate thug to be elected unopposed. First the Jubilee people forced Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi to shelve his ambitions even though he stood a better chance than Igathe.
Both ODM and Jubilee are in the Azimio Coalition but Jubilee feels like the bigger brother for its deep pockets and because its led by President Kenyatta who has his hands on power.
Sakaja said that the revocation by CUE was politically motivated because he was cleared by the IEBC which collaborated with their Ugandan counterparts, National Council for Higher Education to verify his papers.
“The purported revocation of my credentials by the Commission for University Education (CUE) chairman is null and void, and politically instigated. The chairman, Prof Chacha Nyaigotti Chacha, has been coerced and intimidated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to illegally revoke recognition of accreditation that has been properly issued,” Sakaja wrote.
The UDA candidate went on to share documents of the same on his social media handle for the entire world to see.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta and the entire State machinery have gone on an intimidation spree against institutions locally and in Uganda to revoke the recognition of my qualifications in a bid to stop me from being the Governor of Nairobi.” Sakaja added.
Kenya is headed to the August polls with a serious fall out between Kenyatta and his deputy, Dr. William Ruto who leads the UDA party and flying Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential flag.
Dr. Ruto’s UDA party stands a chance to beat the president’s candidate for the capital Nairobi’s top seat and that’s one embarrassment president may be trying to avoid by all means.
Initially there was a debate surrounding his qualifications from the University of Nairobi and a search on the institution’s website showed that Sakaja’s name was among the top alumni after he graduated with a degree in Actuarial Science.
But while seeking IEBC clearance for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, he presented a degree from Teams University which Jubilee sympathizers argue is not genuine.
