The hearing of the case involving the brutal murder of lawyer Willie Kimani has been adjourned after the court was told that Lawyer Cliff Ombeta has tested positive for Covid-19.
Presiding Judge Jessie Lessit has instructed Ombeta to send his covid-19 official results to court on Tuesday after he came into contact with a Malindi client who had tested positive and is admitted in hospital.
The celebrated city lawyer went for the Covid-19 test on Sunday but the results came out today when the court was already in session.
In July 15, the same hearing was adjourned after Judge Lessit complained of a small tent when covid-19 protocols needed people to adhere to social distance rule.
It was again adjourned in October after one of the accused (Cheburet) also tested positive for Covid-19 while in Kamiti Maximum Prison but could not attend the virtual hearing with complaints that he was unwell.
Ombeta who communicated via zoom told Justice Lessit that he had been tested five times with and all the tests turned positive for Covid-19.
