Baringo Senator Gideon Moi who was handed political leadership of the Moi family is gearing up to hit the road running with a series of events aimed at popularizing the KANU party.
According to party officials, Moi will call the party’s Executive Committee meeting next month in which a raft of proposals to revive the independence party will be discussed.
KANU also plans to recruit new members, fill vacant branch positions and hold national elections to fill all vacant positions before the year ends.
The party will also put a series of events led by Moi with the main aim of making the party popular. Some of these will be done through BBI rallies that the old party supports.
The 2019 census revealed that Rift Valley is the most populous region in the country with a total population of 12,752,966.
Before the burial, Gideon Moi was given the ivory-tipped ‘Nyayo rungu’ that his father always carried to symbolize authority, power and force.
Political commentators think that Gideon’s installation would be a blow to Ruto’s efforts to consolidate his own support as the region’s kingpin ahead of the 2022 General Election.
