Police have confirmed that a notorious wanted drug-dealer in Nairobi is in lawful custody six months after he escaped from the police in Mathare, Nairobi County.
The suspect identified as Hillary Wanjiru Wachira, is said to have been on the police radar as one of the most wanted criminals in Nairobi.
Police busted Wachira after laying an ambush along Limuru Road. Prohibited substances were found in his car.
A Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student, Caroline Nyambura Gituma, was also arrested in her hostel room at the university’s Juja Campus.
Ms Gituma is said to be Hillary’s roommate and girlfriend. She was arrested after 50 packets of what is believed to have been heroin were found in her room.
Hillary is said to have been peddling the narcotics to university students and slum dwellers in the city.
Police, however, stated that Hillary and his companion are merely peddlers with the main suppliers believed to have a steady network within the city.
